EDSA proudly presents SPEECH AND WRITING COMPETITIONS
English Department Students Association, again, will hold great competitions among the students in Yogyakarta. As what written above, the competition will present speech and writing competitions. The competitions will be divided into 2 parts. First, speech and short story writing competition addresses to the high school students in Yogyakarta and its surrounds. Second, essay writing addresses to the university students in Yogyakarta and its surrounds.
SPEECH COMPETITION

Terms of Speech Competition
1.) Participants must be high school students in Yogyakarta and its surrounds,status active. Every school should send its delegations (max 2 participants).
2.) Participants bring their own speech scripts related to the topics that are provided by the committee:
- Preventing the Abuse of Drugs and Alcohol by Teeangers- Why the Teenagers Commit Free Sex in Their Early Age
- Parent’s and Teachers’ Roles in Handling Youngster Deliquency
- Cheating in Exam
3.) Participants have to wear their own school uniforms.
4.) Perticipants have to come 30 minutes before the agenda started to do registration.
5.) The number of registraion will be drawn to define the sequence of the performances.
6.) The duration is 5-7 minutes. (more or less than 5-7 minutes will affect the assessment)
7.) Participants should bring the speech script to be given to the juries. Participants may only bring small notes.
8.) If the participants do not come after the MC call them max. three times, they will fail.
9.) The juries' decision cannot be proceeded.

- There will be taken only 10 best participants to run the final round.
- Each of those who succeed to the final round will get a new theme to be delivered to the juries.
- The new themes will be drawn by the committee.
- The finalists will be given 30 minutes to make their new speech scripts.
SHORT STORY WRITING COMPETITION

Theme “Juvenile Delinquency”
Terms of Writing
1.) The participants must be high school students, status active.
2.) Short story must be written in English
3.) Short story must be ORIGINAL and not published yet.
4.) Short story may not contain "SARA".
5.) format: paper size A4, space 1.15, Font Times New Roman 12, Margins 2
6.) Short story must be written in 2-4 pages.
7.) Participants must write down their identities on their scripts.

Terms of Writing
1.) The participants must be university students, status active.
2.) Essay must be written in English
3.) Essay must be ORIGINAL and not published yet.
4.) Essay may not contain "SARA".
5.) format: paper size A4, space 1.5, Font Times New Roman 12, Margins 4-3-4-3 (Left-Right-Top-Bottom)
6.) Essay must be written in 4-5 pages.
7.) Participants must write down their identities on their scripts.
REGISTRATION
All competition registrationa can be done on April 22th-28th at our stand in front of Lecturer Building II (ex C15), Faculty of Languages and Arts of Yogyakarta State University from 9am - 3pm.Registration fees:
- Speech Competition: Rp 50.000 each participant *)
- Short Story Competition: Rp 10.000 each script
- Essay Competition: Rp 10.000 each script

- Participants have to fill the forms provided by the committee.
- Each participant has to give 2 copies of student card and a piece of recomendation letter from his/her school.

To be noticed:
- The technical meeting for Speech Competition will be held on Friday, May 3th 2013 at 2pm in Faculty of Languages and Arts of Yogyakarta State University.
- The finalists of the Writing Competitions will be invited by the committee to come to the final stage of Speech Competition on May 12th 2013.
