KARED (Kajian Rutin EDSA) on April 2013!

On April 8, 2013, EDSA’s 2nd division held their program, KARED (Kajian Rutin EDSA), on 2nd floor of PKM FBS UNY. Almost all staff from each division (first division up to fifth division) came to this event (which was started at 3PM), to get the presentation delivered by Farindo Reska Jenar, (2009 class year) who was a vice chief of EDSA 2011 back then. The MC of KARED was Novi (EDSA 2013).

Mr. Jenar, who is popularly called as Mas Kidjing, gave the presentation about Management of Production . He explained many things that need to be prepared in making an event, such as the committee and how to make the committe itself—in which the recruitment was needed. The matrix of an event was also important since it provided a system in an organization and showed the objectives that need to be reached.
The simulation before the event was mentioned as something we could do in management of production. It made the committee easier to understand how the event should be done as it was provided by doing the briefing for them. Another important thing we need to consider—as stated in the presentation—was the communication among the committee in The Day to minimize the overtaking of jobs between them. The responsibility, however, took a great place in this part.

Besides, Mas Kidjing also focused on the evalution which usually comes after an event. The committe should make the evaluation as the time to reflect on what they did and avoid making the evaluation as an opportunity to ‘strike’ people. The critics are needed, but do not forget to appreciate too.
Not only giving presentation, Mas Kidjing also mentioned his view on EDSA’s weakness: lack of innovation and the fact that all staff did not close to each other. These two weakness were, and are, being the challenges for EDSA to be solved. These two are not simple since it actually can give impact on EDSA itself.

Finishing his presentation, Mas Kidjing suggested an activity in which the staff divided themselves into some groups to make a plan of their innovative programs. Due to the limited time (EDSA had already planned to hold a meeting after the KARED event), it was decided then that this activity would be done by staff who did not come to upgrading event on March only. While the rest of the staff started the EDSA meeting, about 17 staff were divided into three groups and started discussing their programs as Mas Kidjing asked.

Mas Kidjing also gave some comments and advices in EDSA meeting

The three groups that were formed to plan their own innovative program were asked to present their discussion so all staff there could listen well and learn together.

The first group made a plan to conduct a workshop of preliminary proposal

The second group: "We're going to make a cooking competition."

This all-boy-group's plan is holding a workshop of English teaching

Those presentations received warm feedback from audience (even though there was no questions and answers session). By doing this activity, the staff actually learnt to think together as a team and tried to make an innovative way in creating a plan. The three groups brought EDSA to end the KARED then.
